Math Activities

We use the Math in Focus curriculum.  For most chapters, we take a pretest and form math learning groups. Most days in class we have a whole group lesson, and then move through rotations. Here are some rotations we use:

Teacher:
When students meet with the teacher, they are usually completing a workbook page from the day's lesson.  At this time, the teacher is able to differentiate. Some students need reteaching and extra examples.  Other students may work on enrichment work.    

Math Games 
There is usually a math game related to the chapter which they play with partners or groups.

Reflex Math
Students are able to work on their math facts daily on the computer. As they master their facts, they advance to the next level (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Freckle and Prodigy
Students can practice a variety of math topics using Freckle and Prodigy - math programs which offers a variety of adaptive math lessons in a fun online atmosphere.
