Reading Workshop

We use the Schoolwide reading curriculum.  Our reading time is broken up into three parts:

• A whole-class lesson, which usually includes an interactive read-aloud

• An independent reading time, during which the students apply the lesson

• A guided reading time, during which the teacher confers with students either one-on-one or in small groups.

The students have a reading bin where they keep their student handouts, their books, and their reading notebook.  The notebook houses a record of books they've read, goals, and application of the skills while they read.
