2-10

Krishna and Rithvikesh did a great job with this week's news:

Remember to have your child bring in their valentine mailbox by 2/14.  Also, if your child wishes to bring in valentines, we have 22 students in the class.  No treats or food are allowed at the party.  Our party will be 2/14 in the afternoon, followed by a short movie.

Our fiction book project is due 2/17.  Be sure your child fills out the brief summary on the form and that they write a rough draft of their story (on separate paper) before they create their picture book.  The summary and draft are BOTH worth 10 points.  Also, showing that they revised their draft is worth ANOTHER 10 points.

In addition to starting Unit 6 in math, we have begun practicing solving word problems.  This week, we practiced solving daily word problems in class.  Next week, a sheet will come home on Monday, and the students will be expected to do one word problem a day and return the completed sheet on Friday to be corrected.

Also, now that our high frequency word study and cursive practice has finished, the students will begin a new vocabulary program.  They will complete one page a day here at school, and then bring the packet home to study Thursday for a test on Friday.  The first packet will begin this coming Monday and the first test will be next Friday.

The class filled up their cotton ball jar again!  We will be picking a prize and celebrating next week!  Hooray!

As the weather is changing, please remember that your child should be dressed for the weather. If your child would like to play in the snow at recess, they will need to have snow pants, coat, gloves, and snow boots. Otherwise, they will play on the blacktop only.

Please review the contents of your child's Friday Folder, including the weekly reflection. Then please sign and return the empty folder on Monday.

Fun Fair is tonight!  See you there!
