SIT Conference

The kids were told today in class about a technology conference happening in Februrary in Arlington Heights.  If you would like more info, please follow this link:
SIT Conference

It was suggested that they register by the end of December if interested because spots tend to fill up early.

11/18

Dhivija and Yusuf did a great job with this week's news:

Report cards went home today.  Please return the signed, empty folder at conferences or after break.  Also, please note that there is no Science grade on the report card since we did Social Studies last trimester.

Students received a Moon Calendar today.  Depending on your student's class number, they will observe the moon for one week in November or December and record what it looks like on the calendar.  They will then be the class reporters for the week.

The November genre project is due November 30th.
Students should remember to read 20 minutes each school night, and record their minutes on their reading calendar.   The November Reading Calendar is due November 30.  The goal is 500 minutes.

Please review the contents of your child's Friday Folder, including the weekly reflection. Then please sign and return the empty folder on Monday, November 28.

Remember there is no school next week due to conferences and Thanksgiving.  We look forward to seeing you at conferences!

Happy Thanksgiving!

11/5

There will be no blog video this week.  Instead, here is an update on what we have been doing in our class:

In reading we have been working on our nonfiction unit and have learned about the different nonfiction text features and structures.  Look for our non-fiction genre project information sheet to go home next week!  In Math we started measurement and Unit 3.  In writing we are working on showing, and in grammar we are studying proper and common nouns.   In social studies we wrapped up our Midwest unit with a group/self evaluation.  We will be starting our science unit on the solar system next week!  Finally, this week we visited the Innovation Lab for the first time and worked on various STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities.  Ask your child about this experience and view our Twitter feed for pictures!

Thank you to our parent volunteers for a great Halloween party!  The kids just loved it!

Thank you if you were able to make it to our 2nd annual Heritage float museum.  The kids were proud to show off their hard work, creativity and heritage!

This week we scheduled all of the parent-teacher conferences.  On Monday, 11/7, a parent-teacher conference confirmation form will go home.  Please confirm your appointment by returning the bottom portion of this form.

A reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, 11/8 due to our staff institute day!
